Virus & Spyware Removal Services

We can detect, remove, and repair most damage done by computer viruses and spyware. We go even further by correcting any issues or vulnerabilities that may have caused your infection. We will update your security settings and show you many low cost ways to stay virus-free. If you have 3 or more PCs on your network, we also build, install, configure, and manage/monitor gateway firewalls/VPNs which can filter any viruses/attacks at the internet connection point. Once in place, it can provide daily, weekly, or monthly reports on the security events affecting your network.

Virus and other malware detection/removal is only part of regular PC maintenance.

Take a look at our PC Maintenance or PC Overhaul packages.

NOTE: Many viruses have the ability to disable antivirus programs and malware removers silently so you should make sure you keep your protection up to date.

There are many types of infections, but most fall under the following categories:

Viruses - A virus is a small piece of software that attaches itself to real programs. Whenever the program runs, the virus runs, too, and it has the chance to reproduce (by attaching to other programs) or performing some damage to other areas of the PC.

E-mail viruses - An e-mail virus spreads using e-mail messages, and usually replicates itself by automatically mailing itself to every address in the victim's e-mail address book.

- A worm is a small piece of software that uses computer networks and security holes to replicate itself. A copy of the worm scans the network for another machine that has a specific security hole. It copies itself to the new machine using the security hole, and then starts replicating from there, as well.

Trojan horses
- A Trojan horse is simply a computer program, usually disguised as a game or some other program. Trojans can open up "back doors" to your PC allowing intruders to access files or monitor your activies. Many will broadcast the infected PC's internet address so that the intruders can collect lists of machines that can be taken over. This allows the intruder to use your PC to perform other attacks in the background without your knowledge.

- Any software that covertly gathers user information through the user's Internet connection without his or her knowledge, usually for advertising purposes. Spyware applications are typically bundled as a hidden component of freeware or shareware programs that can be downloaded from the Internet. Once installed, the spyware monitors user activity on the Internet and transmits that information in the background to someone else.

Rootkit - A software or hardware device designed to gain administrator-level control over a computer system without being detected.
